FRESNO (KMJ) — An Excessive Heat Warning is now in force in the Central Valley, as an area of high pressure remains above us.
“We’re looking at some record challenging heat over the next couple of days,” reveals Hanford based National Weather Service forecaster Kevin Durfee.
There is even a chance of isolated thunderstorms.
“Looking out for the next seven to ten days, it doesn’t look as though there’ll be a lot of change in the pattern. We will be keeping an eye on some tropical moisture down in Mexico: it might try to work its way up into California.”
Durfee says the above-normal temperatures are likely to remain in play until Labor Day weekend. The mercury could rise to as high as 112 degrees.
“In Fresno our nightly lows will be above 75 degrees, and that’s well above normal. Our normals are in the lower 60s.”
Advice for those out in the heat is to reschedule any strenuous activity to early morning or evening, and to schedule frequent rest breaks.
