Parents Need To Know About “The Hot Water Challenge”

FRESNO, CA (KMJ ) – A warning for parents about something called “The Hot Water Challenge.”

It’s gaining exposure on social media, the “The Hot Water Challenge” a game when someone either willingly on by surprise is hit with a bucket of scalding water thrown on their body.

a 12-year-old girl in New York now faces felony charges, accused of pouring boiling water on another girl at sleep over.

The victim suffering second-degree burns on her face and chest.

Another 8-year-old girl died in July, months after a dare to drink boiling water from a straw,

Fresno Police Lt. Mark Hudson says thankfully it hasn’t happened in Fresno.

“But we do see this as something that is potentially dangerous for young people to just try these pranks on their friends where somebody is seriously injured, in one case I was reading, somebody died.” – Lt. Mark Hudson.

Lieutenant Mark Hudson says there are consequences if someone injures another person in the hot water challenge it turns into a police matter and someone will pay the price.
