Costa: Healthcare Bill Will “Have To Probably Fail” Before Bipartisan Solutions

FRESNO (KMJ) — Valley Congressman Jim Costa reveals that his experts are urging him to vote against the Senate healthcare bill if it comes to the House of Representatives in its current form.

“The President has said this year that he wants to make healthcare coverage for all, he wants to improve it, and he wants to make it less costly. I agree with all of those goals,” reveals Costa.

“If the Senate measure did that I would support it, but it doesn’t.”

He says the bill will have to fail before both sides can find a permanent solution to fixing the nation’s healthcare.

“There are no Republican or Democratic solutions, but there are common sense solutions that we could and should be working on together and I think the measure’s going to have to probably fail though, in the next couple of weeks in the Senate, for us to get to that point.”

Earlier this year fellow valley Congressman David Valadao was urged to vote no on Republican reforms to healthcare (click here to read more). In a statement sent to KMJ News he wrote that “our healthcare system was broken before Obamacare, but Obamacare made it even worse…we need to find a better solution.”
