FRESNO (KMJ) — Seven high school swimming pools within Fresno Unified will be open during the summer months.
The initiative is to create what’s called “blue spaces” all over the school district, with officials working with the City of Fresno to make it happen.
The joint program offers both lesson and recreational swimming, starting June 12th.
“Too often we have these unfortunate incidents in pools, and ditches, and lakes,” says Mayor Lee Brand. “Hopefully this is an effort to get to where there’s never going to be a child in Fresno that doesn’t have the opportunity to have swim lessons.
“This is a very hot place in the summertime!”
Recreational swimming will be free on Saturdays and Sundays, and on weekdays $1 for children and $2 for adults. For information about lessons call 559-621-2900.
