VISALIA (KMJ) — A billboard demanding Congressman Devin Nunes holds a town hall meeting is now a part of the Visalia landscape.
The group responsible for putting it there, the Democratic Coalition Against Trump, says the intended message is two fold.
“That we would like Devin Nunes to do his job which is to meet with his constituents, to hear their concerns and be held accountable for his actions, especially in regards the Trump-Russia investigation,” explains the super-PAC’s co-founder Nate Lerner.
He adds that the second part is to hold him accountable for his actions, and warn others as well.
“Send a very clear message to every member of Congress, that if they obstruct or interfere with the investigation into the Trump-Russia scandal we will hold him accountable.”
Lerner reveals that the public display of the message, next to Highway 198, was deliberately chosen.
“There’s nothing more harmful to a politician, nothing that really has an impact on them more, than something that’s public and can be witnessed by all of their voters. Billboards are perfect for that.”
The money to pay for the sign was generated through crowd-funding. It cost approximately $2500, with donations coming in from all over the country.
“This is a national issue, this is an issue of putting country before party, and it’s something that Devin Nunes really clearly failed to do when he interfered and obstructed in the investigation and we want to hold him accountable for that.”
In a statement sent to KMJ News, Devin Nunes’ office says “it’s hardly surprising that a Democratic Party organization, dedicated to electing Democrats, would rent a billboard criticizing a Republican congressman.”
