Police say Downtown Fresno has seen a drop in crime.

“The first 4 months of the year January through April, we’ve seen crime drop in Downtown 29% in robberies, 17% in larcenies, 18% in burglaries and 22% in stolen vehicles, but we are not celebrating because it’s very busy in there we still have too many cars broken into.” – Lt. Mark Salazar.

Lt. Mark Salazar says a criminal faction of the homeless population are keeping them busy.

“We know there’s a lot of homeless out there that probably should be in prison, if not for different propositions and they’re out there too, they’re on probation, they’re on parole, they’re running from parole, they’re running from probation so we’re taking them on as well.” -Lt. Mark Salazar.
