YOSEMITE (KMJ) — The search continues for a U.S. Navy serviceman missing in Yosemite National Park.
The effort to locate Alexander Sevier began on Sunday, after he failed to check out of his accommodation and then board his flight back to Virginia.
He had traveled to the park alone and officials assume that he had gone out for a hike on Wednesday May 3rd, the date he was last seen.
“We did not get any indications of anything, any foul play, or anything out of the ordinary, other than the fact that he was supposed to check out of his cabin on Saturday,” reveals the park’s Scott Gediman.
That prompted the search party to start looking for him, and around 30 people are now involved as well as a CHP helicopter.
“We have trained dogs on the trails, our park rangers, we’re looking at all the popular trails that originate in Yosemite Valley…so basically with our intensive efforts and our late start, we’re going to do the best we can.”
