FRESNO (KMJ) — Heavy rain is in the forecast this week, marking a sharp break from the unseasonable warmth of the past few days.
“We’re looking at a weather system that’s going to be pushing a cold front through the area,” reveals National Weather Service meteorologist Jeff Barlow.
It’s set to start Monday evening and bring with it cooler temperatures, and a chance of thunderstorms on Wednesday.
“As an upper low comes across, it’s going to give us some hail and some frequent lightning, and some locally heavy downpours. Then late in the week, Friday afternoon and into Saturday we have another very wet system coming in for the early part of the weekend.”
The rain and relative cold are what’s expected this time of year, with the recent trend of highs in the 80s turning into highs in the 70s instead.
“We were up anywhere from 15 to 20 degrees above normal with that warm spell we had. Got a little taste of spring,” adds Barlow.
