FRESNO (KMJ) — Ride on trains, cotton candy machines, and numerous bounce houses are all now being donated to a good cause – and it all comes after the arrest of a suspect in involved in a fraudulent party rental business.
“He fled the Fresno area…probation, tracked him down in Carruthers. We went out to Carruthers to his home, found him there and inside of the home – in the garage and back yard, we literally found a small carnival,” explains Fresno Police Sergeant Brian Rogers.
Sgt. Rogers says the money to buy the items was obtained illegally, meaning that it belonged to the companies that loaned the suspect the money.
“Some of the companies were located out of the California area, so logistically is was difficult for them to get here and pick this stuff up and liquidate it. So they offered to donate some of the items.”
In total, more than $35,000 worth of party rental equipment is being donated to Fresno Police Department’s public outreach group Thursday, “Bringing Broken Neighborhoods Back to Life”, to help improve relations between officers and local communities.
