SACRAMENTO (KMJ) — Two LAPD officers running from Los Angeles to Sacramento – are now finally at the finish line after reaching the capitol city of California Monday evening.

The mammoth journey, approximately 400 miles from one end of California to the other, was put together to generate donations for their fallen colleagues. The goal was $25,000, but that has already been beaten with money still being sent through their GoFundMe page.

It was back on December 1st when the two runners reached Fresno, after starting their journey on November 27th. In each community the pair were cheered on by local law enforcement and fire departments.

“When you see your fellow partners coming out and supporting you, all that pain just goes away”, says Officer Joe Cirrito. “I can’t explain it, and you run faster and you feel stronger”.

He and Kristina Tudor wore their full uniform every day they were on the road.

“Letting [our communities] know that we’re there for them, and we’ll always be there for them. We love our communities that we work in, we chose this job because it’s community first”.

It was all a part of what was called ‘Project Endure’, with the money raised going to ‘Concerns of Police Survivors’ and the ‘Los Angeles Police Memorial Foundation’.
