FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The Obama Administration has released a new rule, which will require that new hybrid and electric vehicles make a sound at low speeds, so that pedestrians can hear them coming.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, once all the vehicles make noise, about 2,400 pedestrian injuries will be prevented each year.
The rule mandates an audible noise, when traveling at speeds up to 19 MPH.
