A Link Between Sleep and Sugar Consumption?

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The less sleep you get, the more likely you are to consume a greater number of sugary beverages.

According to a large UC San Francisco study, people who get 5 or fewer hours a rest each night, drink 21 percent more sugary and caffeinated drinks.

However, it’s not clear whether sodas, coffee, and energy drinks cause people to sleep less, or whether sleep deprivation causes them to seek those beverages.

Such drinks have been linked to several health issues, such as obesity and diabetes.
