FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says proper use of child-restraints has declined, over the past few years.
As many as 37 percent of children between the ages of 4 and 7, are not being properly restrained in forward-facing car or booster seats.
Nearly 14 percent of children between the ages of 1 and 3, have been prematurely graduated to booster seats.
Officials say the downward trend in appropriate child-restraints could undermine significant progress, made over the past 16 years, in preventing the deaths of young children.
