USC: Clinton, Trump Using Bots to Generate Positive Support on Twitter

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — According to a new USC study, both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton have been using software bots, to generate significant support on Twitter.

However, researchers says Trump has used the bots more heavily to generate positive content.

20 million tweets sent out between Sept. 16 and Oct. 21 were written by only 2.8 million unique users, with about 400,000 accounts likely being robots.

These findings are similar to those in other recent studies, which have found that pro-Trump accounts on Twitter out-produce pro-Clinton accounts, by about seven-to-one.
