CoreLogic: CA, TX Have Highest Number of Homes at Risk for Wildfire Damage

FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Across 13 states impacted by the multiyear drought, approximately 1.8 million single-family homes are at extreme or high risk of being damaged by wildfires.

New data from CoreLogic shows the cost of reconstructing those properties is nearly $500 billion.

The number of homes in the moderate-to-low risk category is 27 million, with a reconstruction price tag of $6.7 trillion.

Here in the Fresno area, there are about 4,500 homes at extreme risk of wildfire damage, and about 219,000 at low risk.

California and Texas are the states with the larges liabilities, given the number of homes near dry vegetation.
