FRESNO (KMJ) — A big donation is on its way to a number of valley non-profits, after the announcement that more than $70,000 from AT&T will be going to help support their efforts.
“We know that each and every day there are non-profits in our community, literally thousands of non-profits involving tens of thousands of staff and volunteers and donors, who wake up every single day with the sole mission in mind to help their fellow Fresnans”, says Mayor Ashley Swearengin.
“To help them in any number of ways and to see our community advance and to prosper”.
Mayor Swearengin adds that the non-profits serving the valley even assisted the city while it was dealing with impacts of the recession.
“We made it through because people came together in partnerships. Private sector, non-profits, government leaders, all coming together…to find a better path for Fresno”.
Recipients include West Hills Community College Foundation and the Central Valley Women’s Conference, with the largest portion of the funds going to Fresno State’s Peer Mentoring Program.
It’s part of AT&T’s ‘Fresno Giving’ initiative, which sees the company highlighting each awardee and their contribution to the local community on Twitter using the #FresnoGiving hashtag.
