FRESNO (KMJ) – It’s the first year for the United Cerebral Palsy of Central California’s Walk N’ Roll event taking place Saturday, October 15th.
The goal is to raise 50,000 dollars to improve the quality of life for adults and children with cerebral palsy, a disorder that affects body movement, and muscle control.
Roger Slingerman is the Executive Director of UCP, who says the Walk N’ Roll’s origins go 35 years back when it was called the Sturgeon Run – started then by Vonnie and Ed Sturgeon.
Their son, 68 year-old Brian Sturgeon has CP- he was an avid runner when he was younger and is now serving as the ambassador.
The Walk N’ Roll starts at 9:00 Saturday at Chukchansi Park and runs until 12:00 p.m.
Registration starts at 8:00 am. There’s no cost to attend.
