FRESNO (KMJ) — A new public market for the City of Fresno has taken its first step towards becoming a reality.

A $25,000 grant from Bank of America announced Thursday morning, is envisaged to be the start of Downtown’s old Gottchalks building’s revitalization.

“We think this building is one the gems of Downtown”, says site architect Paul Halajian. “It’s done in the modern style and there’s a lot of character we want to preserve”.

“We envisage…a perimeter that is more open and transparent to invite the inside and the outside to communicate”.

He also explained how he wants to make the site an artifact to show Fresno’s history.
