Man Arrested For Assaulting A Fresno Woman With A Box Cutter

(KMJ) – Fresno Police say a man already on probation attacked a woman with a box cutter outside a convenience store shortly after 2:30 Monday afternoon.

Officers were  dispatched to the Stop-N-Go located at Clinton and West avenues after getting reports a male armed with a razor that was slashing a female.

When Fresno Police arrived  the suspect, later identified as 34-year old Abel Nunez, was struggling with the victim, a 63-year-old female. Nunez still had a box cutter in his hand that had blood all over the blade.

Officers say the woman was conscious and breathing, and talkative, while officers were with her at the scene. She was bleeding profusely and her entire T-shirt was soaked with blood.

That victim said she was in the parking lot in front of the store and she was approached by Nunez whom she does not know.  She was rushed to CRMC where she went into surgery.  The woman is currently listed in serious condition.

Nunez is on felony probation for assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury.  He was booked at Fresno county jail for felony probation violation, assault with a deadly weapon, and mayhem.
