FRESNO (KMJ) — A Fresno man is facing a felony assault charge for allegedly attacking an EMS crew member.

It took place close to the intersection of Calaveras and Yale in Fresno Tuesday morning. The ambulance was originally dispatched to that area regarding a fall victim needing assistance. That fall victim was later established to be the suspect in the incident.

“What happened is the ambulance crew came here for the fall victim”, explains Fresno Police Lieutenant Joe Gomez. “They put him in the ambulance and for whatever reason he went wild when he was in the ambulance.

“He grabbed their laptop, he tried to throw it out the ambulance doors from inside. The paramedic stopped him and grabbed the computer. Then the suspect used the computer and he hit the paramedic in the head several times – punched him.

“Paramedic again grabbed the computer, pulled it away from him. Then there was a physical altercation again between them, they rolled out of the back of the ambulance onto the road.

The other crew members jumped on the suspect and restrained him.

“It’s not known why he went wild on them”.

Both the paramedic and the suspect, identified as Kasey Kure, were taken to the hospital.
