The GOP nominee for president is coming to the Central Valley once again, specifically the City of Tulare.
It’s as part of a fundraising luncheon taking place Tuesday – with the price of a plate at the event standing at $2,700.
“It’ll be in Tulare”, says Congressman Devin Nunes. “We actually looked at Fresno, we looked at Visalia, we looked at Tulare, and it ended up for the venue that we’re going to use for security reasons this is what worked. We wanted to get him to the central-southern San Joaquin Valley and so this is what worked”.
Congressman Nunes has also confirmed that he’s hosting the event, although the specific site is yet to be publicly confirmed.
“Where can you fly into, how can you move from where you fly to an event, how can you secure the event location. This was the easiest”.
Bringing more water to the Central Valley is expected to be a major talking point.
“I think everyone’s pretty excited about him coming”, reveals Chairman of Tulare County Republican Party James Henderson. “Not very often in Tulare County you get a presidential candidate to come our way so it’s exciting for him to be here.
“More importantly it’s exciting for him to show an interest in the issues that affect the valley particularly when it comes to water”.
The fundraising luncheon is going to be a closed door meeting and organizers anticipate those who rely on natural resources for their livelihood will be well represented.
“This is the first time that someone has really wanted to show a true interest in the water issue”, continues Henderson. “It’s really quite frankly one of our last few chances of getting something done”.
Tulare County Sheriff’s Office are the lead agency regards security, and they’re working with the Secret Service to ensure everything goes smoothly.
“The overall goal is that everyone’s safe, community as well as the candidate…the dignitary in this case”, says Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux. “That they come into our county and leave our county, safe on both aspects”.
Those organizing Donald Trump’s California campaign add that they expect he’ll have a number of further events within the state after Labor Day.
