Fresno Unified Improves Test Scores

FRESNO, CA (KMJ) – Fresno Unified saw an improvement in test scores for the 2015-2016 school year.  For the first time since state testing began, Fresno Unified’s scores improved district-wide at every grade level.  There were also gains in scores across all ethnicity groups and both genders.

Fresno unified superintendent Michael Hansen says while the improvement is good, there’s room to get better. “The gains are impressive,” said Hansen.  “But we also have a long, long way to go.”  31% of the district is proficient in English and Language Arts and 22% is proficient in math.

The state testing – Smarter Balance Assessment System – is just one of five different ways the district monitors its progress.
