FRESNO (KMJ) — A drive to collect $750,000 in donations for a valley based good cause needs your help to help it reach its goal.
The months of June, July, and August are the focus of the Fresno Rescue Mission’s 90 day ‘Summer of Hope’ Challenge. They’re currently at just over $674,000…meaning they only need just over $75,000 to reach that goal before August 28th.
“We get our donations from individuals and corporations”, explains Chief Development Officer Deborah Torres. “We don’t take any government funding. So folks, they’ll go online and give and so we appreciate that. That’s quick and easy.
“Sometimes people will call us on our phones, and we can take donations over the phone, and then some people…most people…give the old fashioned mail trough the mail and that’s great too”.
Their efforts to raise money are also supported by donations of physical items too, and the funds raised will be going towards supporting their work in the Central Valley.
“We offer 24 hour emergency services with case management at the Fresno Rescue Mission location, and so anyone who becomes homeless or is in need of services we offer them immediate care and or referrals to other organizations that can help them.
“We also have our long-term recovery program”.
