Attempted Murder Charges Filed In Fresno Courthouse Park Shooting

FRESNO (KMJ) – Attempted murder charges are filed against the man accused of the Fresno Courthouse Park shooting.

53 year-old Anthony Simpson ambushed his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend outside the Fresno County Courthouse, July 1st, in what Sheriff Margaret Mims called a targeted domestic violence attack.

Simpson attacked his ex-girlfriend, she fell and received minor injuries, her 57 year-old boyfriend was shot in the leg.

Along with attempted murder, the Fresno District Attorney has filed charges of stalking and assault with a semiautomatic firearm among other charges.

Simpson is in custody at the Fresno County Jail.

If convicted, he faces the possibility of life in prison.

Simpson is scheduled for arraignment Thursday morning, July 7, at 8:30 a.m. in Department 95 of the Fresno County Superior Court.
