FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Following revelations that a California Board of Equalization member furnished his office at a cost to taxpayers of more than $130,000, the executive director will have to provide weekly reports, on all contracts over $50,000 under consideration.
BOE member Jerome Horton filled his Sacramento office, when he was the chairman last fall, with designer furniture, at a cost of more than $130k.
For some reason, six leather and wood chairs, which according to the Sac Bee cost about $1,200 a piece, were placed in storage.
Despite the change in policy, the board has been rather tightlipped about the controversy.
