(KMJ) – A portion of Schnoor Avenue remains closed in the City of Madera after a massive sink hole opened up there Monday afternoon.
Police and Road Crews were called to Schnoor just North of Howard Road around 1:30 p.m. At that time, they saw only a crack on the street. But within minutes, the pavement began to collapse. When the crumbling stopped, the sinkhole grew to nearly 25 feet by 12 feet, and about 15 feet deep.
The City says a broken main sewer line is to blame. But all water and sewer in Madera is still functioning properly.
Now Schoor will remain closed while crews repair the damage.
