Fresno Fire Captain Pete Dern’s story made national news, and it will once again, Friday, April 8th, on CNN.
Under the title “Beyond the Call of Duty” the dramatic footage from last March shows Captain Dern and his crew battling a house fire.
Firefighter Kory Kalanick is interviewed and shares what it was like trying to help Dern after he plunged through the garage roof.
“I believe we got him out in a minute and 20 and his wife Kelly told me ‘Hey, you brought my husband back,’ and that’s even hard to hear because I don’t want my wife going through that, either.” – Firefighter Kory Kalanick.
Kalanick was one of five firefighters who received a life-saving award in March for rescuing Captain Dern.
