FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — One hour of choir singing appears to boost levels of proteins in the immune system, improve mood, and reduce stress.
A new Royal College of Music study finds choir singing may boost the body’s ability to fight serious illnesses, such as cancer.
Choir members provided samples of their saliva before singing, and right after, which were analyzed for changes.
Previous research has shown social and psychological benefits associated with choir singing; but, this is said to be the first it’s been demonstrated that the immune system can be affected by singing.
