We’re celebrating a birthday as KMJ turns 94 today.
Back in March of 1922, the station first began broadcasting in Fresno.
It was originally owned by the San Joaquin Light and Power Corporation, and later acquired by the McClatchy Newspaper Company in 1925.
At the outset of World War II, the Department of War selected KMJ as the primary medium for alerting Central California residents.
Seven years ago, we added 1059 FM to our original 580AM.
It is the 38th oldest licensed, and continuously operated radio station in the United States.
