Visalia Man Charged with Attempted Murder In Gang Shooting

(KMJ) – A 19-year-old Visalia man is charged  with attempted murder for a February gang-related shooting.

 

Back on February 28th, Visalia police responded  to the Riverway Sports Park, just north of Dinuba Boulevard and Riggin Avenue, around 3:30 p.m. for a shooting.  Officers were told that an argument occurred between the victim and the suspect who was inside a vehicle.

The suspect, identified as 19-year old Samuel Cerda,  pulled a handgun during the dispute and fired at the victim before driving off. No one was injured and the shooting appeared to be gang related.

Visalia police’s violent crimes unit conducted a follow up investigation into the shooting and identified Cerda as the shooter, Maurice said. He was later arrested March 12th for suspected firearm possession.

And, Officers say he was interviewed regarding the shooting on Monday and was additionally booked for suspected attempted homicide.
