FRESNO, Calif. (KMJ) — Children born into large families are more likely to fall behind in cognitive achievement, according to new data published by the National Bureau of Economic Research.

Experts say having a large family often means decreased parental investment, leading to lower performance on cognitive tests, and measures of social behavior.

They add that the negative effects may not merely be temporary, but can be long-lasting.
