LIVINGSTON (KMJ) — Zombies and runners are invading the City of Livingston this weekend.
It’s not the plot-line of a local horror movie – the “Fear the Dead” 5k Zombie Run is actually taking place this Sunday and participants have to enter either as a human or a zombie.
“So they’ll run through the town of Livingston”, says Chairman of the Livingston 4th of July Committee Julio Valadez , “and into Livingston self storage where they’ll encounter the zombies”.
Once inside, the zombies will attempt to ‘slay’ the human runners. Not really, obviously, each human runner will have a number of flags on them which the zombie characters will try to grab.
As well as a prize for winning the race, there’s also a competition to have either the most flags remaining or for the zombies with the most flags captured.
The unique idea is all to encourage as many people to the race as possible and raise money to fund town improvements.
“For a small town we do a lot of things”, continues Julio. “We want to get people out into the town and to the parks and do healthy things. It’s Halloween themed with ‘Fear the Dead’ of course”.
“It’s a family event. We want families to come out and enjoy a day outdoors on a Sunday and just have fun with the whole family”.
If you’re interested in being a zombie runner, the “Fear the Dead” 5k zombie run takes place Sunday October 25th in Livingston. Links to the information you’ll need can be found clicking here.
