A group of Fresnans are holding a press conference on what they call the Fresno Unified Cyber Dust Scandal.
The protest will be at Palm & Browning at 2:00pm, today – October 1st.
Casey Lamonski is the Chair of FREE – That’s Fresnans For Responsibility And Ethics In Education,
She says they will be talking about the recent fallout from the use of Cyber Dust and she questions whether there were any possible violations of the Brown Act – but says because the app erases messages there is no way to know what was discussed while officials were using it.
“We start getting these questions that we have been asking and asking and asking – get some answers.” -Casey Lamonski, Chair of FREE.
She is questioning the ethics of the FUSD District, and their use of a phone app that destroys any paper trail: “As a parent and as a professional my first question is ‘Why would you even download something like that – that essentially erases it — to try to be more efficient in your job?’ Makes zero sense to me. I do a majority of my work via text message and email, not having that kind of paper trail would be detrimental to what I do everyday, so why would you even do it?”
They will also be addressing the leaseback construction scandal and federal investigation encircling the Fresno Unified School District.
Lamonski will be joined by Larry Moore, who is the Co-chair of FREE and a former Fresno Unified School Board Member.
