Fresno City Council voted on the Granite Park deal Thursday.
By a unanimous vote – the council approved the proposed a 25-year lease agreement with the Central Valley Community Sports Foundation.
Now that’s its a done deal – what’s next?
“We hand it over to the private developer and they prepare for the groundbreaking which we expect towards the end of October – the construction of the site – the improvements will happen over the fall and winter, and early spring months and we hope this place is live for baseball, next year.” – Mayor Ashley Swearengin.
The 2.7 million dollars in improvements and refurbishments includes a makeover for the three amateur baseball fields, adding a major league field, adding new basketball and volleyball courts, plus jogging paths open to the public, and a restaurant is also in the deal.
