(KMJ) Things have gone from bad to worse for the Bulldogs.
Fresno State’s starting freshman quarterback Chason Virgil is out for the remainder of the season after suffering a broken clavicle in Saturday’s 45-24 loss to Utah.
But Virgil’s backup, Zack Greenlee, is anything but guaranteed to replace him under center this weekend when the Bulldogs take on San Jose State. That’s because Greenlee was arrested after the blowout loss to the #21 Utes for public intoxication.
Linebacker Brandon Hughes was also arrested on charges of obstructing a police officer.
In a statement released Monday afternoon, head coach Tim DeRuyter said “We are aware of the incident that took place over the weekend. We are gathering details and will withhold further comment until the investigative process plays out.”
Fresno State will likely seed a medical redshirt for Virgil (pictured).
Transfer QB from West Virginia, Ford Childress, could be named the starter against the Spartans this Saturday. Kickoff in San Jose at 7:30pm.
