On Sunday, September 20, 2015, at 1:02 am, Northeast patrol officers responded to a loud party in the 4500 block of North Bond that was generating many calls for services wherein citizens were calling the police to report this noise disturbance. When the first officer arrived he could hear a female yelling for everyone to leave the party. The first Department member to arrive on scene was a police sergeant and he observed many party goers leaving the residence. The sergeant saw Zackerey Greenlee ([pictured left) drinking from a bottle of Budweiser beer and he shined his vehicle spotlight on Greenlee causing him to toss the bottle on a nearby yard. The sergeant continued to usher people out of the neighborhood when he later saw Greenlee drinking alcoholic beverages from a red cup. The sergeant approached Greenlee, and as he spoke with him, the sergeant observed Greenlee exhibited the symptoms of intoxication. As the sergeant moved in to arrest him, Greenlee pulled away but the sergeant was able to pull  him to his patrol car where Greenlee was pushed against the patrol car and handcuffed. He was arrested for Public Intoxication and Drinking in Public.

Once Greenlee was arrested, Brandon Hughes (pictured middle) drove up in a vehicle and parked. Hughes wanted to know what was happening with Greenlee. Hughes was told Greenlee would be booked into jail and he argued with officers. Officers repeatedly told Hughes to leave the area but he refused continuing to look beyond officers at the patrol car Greenlee was occupying. Hughes tried to walk past officers moving to the patrol car with Greenlee and again Hughes told officers he was not leaving. The on scene sergeant told Hughes he was under arrest and Hughes started back peddling away from officers as he told them you are not going to detain me. Hughes pulled away from the sergeant’s grasp and once they took him to the ground he actively resisted arrest while on the ground. Officers were able to eventually handcuff Hughes who was arrested for Obstructing Officers in the Performance of their Duties/Resisting Arrest.

Also during this incident, while the party was being cleared out by officers, Fanny Johansson (pictured right) was arrested for Public Intoxication and Obstructing Officers in the Performance of their Duties/Resisting Arrest. Officers repeatedly told Johansson to leave the party and wait by her vehicle. As Officers were speaking with the home renters, Johansson walked up to them and demanded the renters go in the house and find her purse. Officers again told Johansson to return to her vehicle until the house was cleared out. She became very belligerent and told the home renters they did not have to speak and cooperate with the officers. Again, officers told Johansson to return to her vehicle but she refused telling officers they didn’t have to speak with her. Officers observed the objective symptoms of public intoxication while speaking with Johansson and as they went to place her under arrest she pulled away from them and continued to do so until officers could get her hands behind her back to safely handcuff her.

Greenlee, Hughes, and Johansson, were transported to the Crime Scene Investigations Bureau where they were processed. They were later booked at Fresno County Jail.

Chief Jerry Dyer spoke to KMJ news and said it remains in the hands of the DA Lisa Smittcamp to pursue criminal charges. He called the charges relatively minor, saying that if it had been anyone besides Fresno State athletes in the spotlight – it would have not been such a public case.
