(August 28th, 2015) 62 year-old experienced hiker Miyuki Harwood is still missing – believed to be in the Sierra National Forest.
Smoke from the Rough Fire delayed aircrafts from getting involved in the search earlier today as originally planned.
Spokesperson Tony Botti from the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department says the Search & Rescue Team is looking for opportunities of clearing this afternoon – where they can launch the Chinook and Blackhawk helicopters.
“We’re putting out every single effort possible to try and find her, and then we’ll continue on Sunday. As of now, we have no timetable to back down from this. We’re working under the assumption that she’s alive and well, and we’re going to cross paths with her sooner rather than later. – Spokesperson Tony Botti.
Harwood was last seen August 20th with her hiking group from Sacramento.
She has decades of hiking experience and family members say it’s not like her to just go missing.
