“Business As Usual” During Rough Fire Warning

WISHON FIRE

(August 28, 2015) A fire evacuation warning goes out for the Rough Fire area…. but it’s just a warning – and business owners say its business as usual.

Our KMJ newsroom received calls from the Wishon area where evacuation “warning orders” have been issued to those living in the area –along McKinley Grove Road between Dinkey Creek Road and the Wishon Reservoir.

But these are only orders to be on alert says Fresno County Sheriff’s Spokesperson Tony Botti

“The reason why were are doing this is we understand there are very smoky conditions up in that area right now, so that might be alarming to people. It might look like the fire is worse than it is.” Tony Botti, Fresno County Sheriff’s Spokesperson.

Botti says it’s only a warning and if an actual evacuation were to be issued – residents would have two hours notice to leave.

It’s business as usual for Kris Oneida, owner of the Wishon Village Resort. .

“We’ve been told just to operate as usual. We still have an ice cream social tomorrow, we still have customers arriving to stay the weekend. The warning doesn’t change any of that we just inform people when they get here that we are under warning, just in case.” – Kris Oneida, Wishon Village Resort.

Firefighters will be tying the two fire lines together.

“What they want to do is fill that gap and burn that to make it one whole fire and that’s gong to help them in their overall containment. – Tony Botti, Fresno County Sheriff’s Spokesperson.

Botti says it could cause more smoke but to not be concerned.
