Car Collides With Fresno Police K9 Unit

A K-9 officer responding to an accident is the victim of an accident.

At 5:30 am on August 25th, Fresno Police were being dispatched to Golden State and Jensen, to the site of a pedestrian hit and run accident.

One K-9 officer was driving a Ford F-150 truck to the scene, heading southbound on Fulton Street.

He arrived at Belmont Avenue at the same time as a Chevy Cavalier driven by a 50 year-old woman.

“The force of the collision knocked both vehicles up on the southwest corner of the intersection. The K-9 truck also spun around and the rear of the truck hit a light pole there, too.” – Lt. Joe Gomez, Police Spokesperson.

The driver of the Cavalier was wearing her seatbelt.

She suffered cuts and abrasions to her face and possibly a concussion.

She was in stable condition at CRMC.

The K9 officer had lacerations to his head requiring suturing, and was treated and released from CRMC.

And the dog?

“The dog was not injured at all.” – Lt. Joe Gomez
