About 866 people, from 66 countries, took their oath of allegiance to the United states on Monday, August 18, 2015.
Secretary of State Alex Padilla spoke during the ceremony.
He was raised in America after his parents emigrated from Mexico.
His mother cleaned house – his father was a short order cook and they obtained their citizenship.
Padilla went on to be a senator, and then Secretary of State – a success story of becoming a citizen.
No doubt, others will be creating their own stories of success.
