Onetime Cal Fire battalion chief, Orville Fleming has been sentenced for the second degree murder of his girlfriend.
Sacramento Judge Sharon Lueras commented to the court what type of hell 26-year-old Sarah June Douglas endured before she was killed by her boyfriend Orville fleming.
Lueras ordered Fleming to serve a mandatory 15 years to life in prison for the second-degree murder of his girlfriend, adding one extra year for aggravated use of a knife in the the young woman’s death
He was charged with murder in 2014 after Douglas was found dead in their Elk Grove home.
She had been stabbed 14 times and strangled with a bedsheet in their bedroom.
His defense attorney Peter Kmeto says 57-year-old Fleming killed Douglas in an act of passion during a fight.
A jury agreed last month.
