Just after One o’clock Wednesday morning, Officers from Fresno Police’s Southwest District were dispatched to the area of Calaveras and McKenzie after getting reports of a victim of a stabbing.
The victim, a 54 year old female, had suffered a stab wound to her back.
Witnesses told Officers the suspect left the scene in a silver Dodge Charger.
The Fresno Police helicopter, AIR 1, arrived overhead and located the vehicle fleeing from the scene northbound on Calaveras. AIR 1 followed it and continued to broadcast its location until officers were able to catch up to it and stop it.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as 30 year old Vanessa Ledger of Clovis. Ledger was positively identified at the scene by the victim as the person who had stabbed her. She was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and later booked into the Fresno County Jail.
