VIDEO: Golden Gate Bridge Barrier Now In Place

SAN FRANCISCO (KMJ) The first-ever closure of the Golden Gate Bridge is over, and now there's a new, moveable barrier that should prevent the head-on crashes that have plagued the symbol of the West.

SEE THE NEW BRIDGE BARRIER AT WORK:

With the change, though, means several new things affecting your drive – including a lane narrower by 6 inches where the barrier sits.

The speed limit heading into the city down the Waldo Grade from Marin is now down to 45.

That'll force you to do what the bridge's managers hope you'll do: SLOW DOWN!

Other changes to major San Francisco roads – including changes to the exits on the city approach to the bridge – and the S-curves on the Bay Bridge during construction of the new span – led to a lot of major crashes.
