FRESNO (KMJ) — The Mayoral baton has been passed. The transition from the Ashley Swearengin administration to the Lee Brand regime became official Thursday morning during a ceremony at Fresno City Hall.
“To the people of Fresno,” began Ashley Swearengin, “I say it has been the honor of a lifetime to carry the vision of a changed Fresno and to work every day to accomplishing that vision on your behalf.”
“And it is now my privilege and my pleasure to hand the baton to our city’s next great mayor – Lee Brand.”
To the City Council, she told them that they’re the history makers.
“I sincerely believe that history will record you, this city council, as the most qualified, the most dedicated, and the most collaborate council that our city has known to date.”
After her final words, came new Mayor Lee Brand, who used the opportunity to outline his intentions with his time in office.
“We must make Fresno business friendly, and finish the work that has already been done to streamline the permitting and plan-check process” announced Mayor Brand.
“We must finish the job with an exclamation point, and we will complete the master plan for city wide park and trail construction and provide more green space for our city.”
