(KMJ) – A traffic stop by Fresno Police leads to the arrest of a man who Officer’s say had a loaded handgun resting on his dashboard.
Officers pulled the vehicle over after they say they saw the driver, 25-year old Donavin Caldwell, commit a traffic violation near Roosevelt and Belmont in Southwest Fresno.
As he was talking, the Officer noticed a revolver (pictured below) sitting on his dash in front of his steering wheel. Caldwell told Officers he needed the gun “for protection.”
During their investigation, Fresno Police learned Caldwell was prohibited from possessing firearms due to a prior conviction. He was arrested for various weapons charges including possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
